The HeadBlade Story
The original HeadBlade was designed in 1997 by Todd Greene out of necessity. He had been suffering for years with the traditional stick razor, and felt there had to be a better way.
Years of development followed, and then in 1999 HeadBlade was introduced. It was a razor designed by a head shaver for the head shaver. The design was elegant and functional with an ergonomic handle--it truly was the fastest, closest, safest shave for the head.
The bold, new design was quickly adopted and became one of TIME magazine's “Best Inventions of the Year” in 2000. More awards followed and HeadBlade was chosen to be part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
Over the next 20 years, Todd infused his experiences, personality and love for design into the HeadBlade brand. Millions of razors were sold and the brand expanded into a comprehensive line of head care products including shaving creams and skin care products for the head.
In February 2020, however, the pioneer of head shaving passed away from cancer. Todd had battled for more than a year, and continued to develop new HeadBlade products despite the adversity.
But while Todd may be gone, his passion for designing beautiful products for the head shaver endures at HeadBlade today.
Every day we're energized and inspired by Todd's enthusiasm as well as the legacy he built. We are committed to building on his legacy and introducing the next generation of head shaving products.
At HeadBlade, Product Design is Paramount
The HeadBlade was designed for a single function--make head shaving easy. We accomplished this by following a couple simple design principals:
✓ The user had to be able to shave by feel. In other words, the razor had to sit close to the head and the user needed to be able to touch the head with fingers while shaving.
✓ The razor needed two contact points to create a 'suspension' allowing the blade to automatically pivot and follow the contour of the head
